The basis of the Flemish tourism policy is formed by four paths: 1) a policy to maximize tourist earnings, 2) cooperation with and for all tourism stakeholders, 3) Flanders as a qualitative destination on the map and 4) developing rules with room for an efficient tourism business.
The Department of Foreign Affairs supports the Minister in the design and evaluation of his policies and by monitoring the policy implementation. The Tourism Flanders Agency implements the tourism policy. Its mission is to promote tourism, recreation and leisure tourism. As an agency of the Flemish government Tourism Flanders monitors the implementation of the tourism regulation, supports the Flemish tourism industry and promotes Flanders as a tourist destination at home and abroad through a network of 12 foreign offices.
